KINFOLK BICYCLES
This weeks “Japanese Bicycle of the Week” is the Kinfolk Urban. In 2008, Kinfolk Bicycles was founded by a group of friends hailing from New York, Los Angeles, and Tokyo. After all, their common desire was to create a meticulously handcrafted bicycle, a product they believed was missing from the market.
To realize this vision, they pooled their expertise from various fields. This 7-year-old company assembled a team of top-notch designers and builders, employing cutting-edge techniques, all aimed at bringing their ‘Kinfolk Life’ concept to fruition.
Among their team members stands frame builder Osamu Fukuda, whose family’s legacy in bicycle construction spans three generations, tracing back to pre-World War II times.
With over 35 years of experience in crafting exceptional custom bicycles. Moreover, Fukuda belongs to a select group of artisans. In fact, these artisans witnessed the evolution of bicycle design and materials.
With this in mind, they still remained dedicated to their craft. Kinfolk’s journey persists, driven by their unwavering passion for cycling and artisanal craftsmanship.
